In the small town of Neryungri surrounded by picturesque forests lies an innovative boarding-school named “the Arctic”. Lost in the middle of Russia’s biggest federation unit, the Sakha Republic, the school supports and educates children coming from autochthon families of the North. Since 1999, the young Evenks, Evens, Dolgans, Yukaghir and Chukchi have spent the school year together. “We are roots of the same tree and this tree is Yakutia” – say the boarding-school residents about the land of their forefathers. Creating a modern interpretation of folk dance, the “Laredo” group will surprise the Brave Kids’ audience with different techniques of playing the Jew’s harp, throat singing and performances: “Hunters initiation”, “Tale of a bear’s ancestor” and “The deer’s holy spirit”.
