“Sirguline” Folk Group, ESTONIA

.

Estonia is one of the least populated countries in the EU - a fact which is not so surprising considering that 50% of its territory consists of forest. The country is famous for Estonian Song and Dance Celebration which was, in 2003, declared by UNESCO a masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The “Sirguline” group comes from a little town named Märjamaa and has taken part in multiple folk celebrations. They will perform old songs based on national folklore which have been sung for 2000 years. In addition, they will show different folk dances - some of them over 100 years old, as well as other modern creations
